Child Pornography | Sex Crimes Lawyer San Diego

Sex crimes lawyer Paul Blake has aggressively defended cases in San Diego and Southern California, including child pornography and Internet sex crimes, for 30 years.

California has taken aggressive steps to reduce or eliminate sex crimes such as child pornography, child sex crimes and Internet related behavior. Here in San Diego, we have enacted laws that even more severely limit the distance that a convicted sexual predator can live from schools, daycare facilities and other places where children are present. While these controversial laws are often challenged as a violation of freedoms protected under the Fist Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, they are designed to severely punish not only those who commit sex crimes against children but those who produce, collect, distribute, or sell child pornography, even those who accidentally download an image or forward it to a friend. If you are convicted of an Internet or child sex crime in California, you face lifetime registration as a sexual predator, heavy fines and prison time.

San Diego sex crimes lawyer Paul W. Blake’s education and experience provide unique perspective and expertise in defending even the most complex and serious sex crimes. Attorney Blake will aggressively defend you against charges of:

  • Child pornography
  • Internet sex crimes
  • Violations of California’s “Jessica’s Law” or Prop 83
  • Importuning
  • Chat room activities, e-mail or text messaging a minor for sex
  • Statutory rape
  • Date rape
  • Sexual battery
  • Rape
  • Child sexual abuse
  • Lewd conduct
  • Lewd acts with a child
  • Failure to register as a sex offender

Jessica’s Law and Megan’s Law in California

California passed “Prop 83” also known as “jessica’s Law” in 2006 to increase the power of laws and regulations concering sex offenders. It restircts all sex offenders from residing within 2000 feet of a school or park where children are present, and requires all “high-risk” sexual predators and sex offenders to lifetime monitoring via the Global Positioning System (GPS).

Megan’s Law provides California residents with information about the whereabouts of registered sex offenders. It allows people to view the list of registered sex offenders, and while it prohibits harassment or intimidation of those citizens, it can definitely impact the day-to-day life of those on the registry of sexual predators.
